Initial ideas

 After looking at the possible briefs for the NEA, I have chosen to create the magazine. This is because I would prefer to create a product that fits my preferred music taste as i think it will give me more of a creative flare. I am going to use Jazz as the genre of music. This is because, it represents freedom in the form of music. This will aid how I write the article in my magazine. Moreover, Jazz is very aesthetic and the lighting, down lights and floodlights, used in Jazz performance will make the model stand out.

Big Issue Front Cover

 

In January 2024, I created a Big Issue front cover of actress America Ferrara. The aim of this magazine was to highlight the actresses performance in Barbie - this is referenced in the use of pink as the audience would have the cultural capital to understand the intertextual reference. Moreover, America Ferrara is a voice for women, and is strong on equality. This is why I referenced her quote 'we are all worthy' from one of her recent speeches. This creates value transference to The Big Issue.
