For my second magazine I chose to make the genre of music R&B. When researching possible locations, I found the diversity studio had a staircase with a graffiti mural of black celebrities. I thought this was a good intertextual reference, as there were lots of black musicians, my model could have been inspired by. I also thought this created an interesting framing for my photos, particularly the inside page. I also chose to take photos in other locations outside that could be used for the front cover of the magazine.

magazine 1
When looking into the clothes I should have my model in for this front cover, I researched into 2000s fashion so it was cohesive with the intertextual reference. As I was trying to reference barbie, I knew i wanted my model to be in pink, however this research showed me the types of clothing popular in Y2K fashion. Most celebrities, wore low rise mini skirts or jeans, with a longer tight fitted top. This style has come back into fashion in recent years, therefore, I thought it would work perfectly as it ensures the magazine seems up to date (current).
Photos:
For the location of the photoshoot, I chose to use a woods, as the green leaves made the magazine seem fresh and complimented the models eyes. The poses chosen, were trying to imitate a barbie doll, therefore, lots of them has one bent arm alike a barbie doll to further reinforce the intertextual reference.
